hi all,
I want to know at a beginner level does it really matter as to what versions are we working with, whether oracle 8,8i,9ior10g.
Where actualy comes the difference??

Depends.
For just 'pure' sql, you do not need an oracle database at all. Even with MySQL you can learn the SQL.

If you intend to learn Oracle SQL/PL.SQL, learning in the latest version helps. Else you need to upgrade yourself about the new features in the latest versions. For example, the better use of analytic functions , execute immdiated,dbms_stats etc does count a lot/
For Topics/Features in Database administration and concepts
there is a bigtime difference between the above mentioned versions.
