I've scheduled a scripts which executes daily automatically, connects to the database and collects the details about database & finally generate a spool file daily. It generated spool file successfully for every day,but on 14-May-2006,for each & every query contained in the script, the spool file contains the following error "sp-0640 Not connected".

I thought that the database may be shutdowned by someone,so i tried to check the alert.log file, but for the date 14-May-2006,it doesn't contain any info about shutdown & startup of the database.

1) What could be the reason for this, why it's not recorded in alert.log?

2) Or in anyother file, can i find the details about database activity on 14-May-2006?

Maybe the listener was down - check your listener.log file for details.

PS: Anyone can edit the alert.log file. So, is the DB was down, one of the DBAs might be covering his/her tracks.
