Hello all!

I am trying to install Oracle 10G R2 on SLES 10.
As I know there is no certificates for SLES 10 but I have such requirements.
I am very much developer than DBA, obviosly I have problems.
I get:
ORA-27102: out of memory
Linux Error: 12: Cannot allocate memory
while running Instance configuration utility
or when trying to Startup DB. I am not aware of Kernel version on SLES 10.
I am doupting that mapped base addresses for shared libraries
are different or ... where to search to?
There is no much resources about this install anywhere.
Thanks!

Like GOOGLE??????????????????????????????
Results 1 - 10 of about 211 for "Linux Error: 12: Cannot allocate memory"
with the 1st listed being
http://www.puschitz.com/TuningLinuxForOracle.shtml
which contains:
If the mapped base address for shared libraries for the Oracle processes was changed, then every Linux shell that spawns Oracle processes (e.g. listener, sqlplus, etc.) must have the same mapped base address as well. For example, if you execute sqlplus to connect to the local database, then you will get the following error message if the mapped_base for this shell is not the same as for the running Oracle processes:

SQL> connect scott/tiger
ERROR:
ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-27102: out of memory
Linux Error: 12: Cannot allocate memory

By your own admission you are not a *nix SA and are not an Oracle DBA;plus you are attempting to install on a totally unsupported OS.
I suggest either hiring someone who has many years of experience or installing on a supported Operating System.

The 1st thing a person should do when they find themselves in a hole, is to stop digging.
You seemed unwilling to drop the shovel & climb out of the hole your are in.

I will NOT be assisting you on this foolish endeavor.

With advice, you can have it good, fast or cheap. Pick any TWO.

HTH & YMMV

HAND!
