Hello sir

Already we have 2 controlfiles ,we want to add one more controfile in our database for saftey purpose ,i need ur valuable suggestion and advice because this i will do for our real time database server, i need help for manual method.

oracle version: 9.2.0.7.0
OS : REDHAT LINUX

Bad idea for a real time db.
Are you sure 2 is not enough (of course on different disks)?

yes ofcourse we have only 2 controlfiles thats why ,we want to add one more ,plz gimme the method to add the control files

- shutdown the db
- copy one of the control files to another place
- add this new location to the control_files list in init.ora
- startup the db
