Hi EveryOne,

I am a newbie and have installed Oracle on Solaris platform. I am trying to start the server using dbstart and get the following error. ORA-01031: insufficient privileges.

# ./dbstart

SQL*Plus: Release 9.2.0.1.0 - Production on Fri Jul 13 08:40:51 2007

Copyright (c) 1982, 2002, Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved.

SQL> ERROR:
ORA-01031: insufficient privileges

SQL> ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
SQL>
Database "testsid" warm started.

How can I solve this problem? I have no clue as to what is going wrong. I have tried re-installing as well and doesnt work. Can someone please suggest something. I am almost reaching my project deadline.

Thanks,
Vanitha

I believe you have to run it as oracle, not root, or su -c oracle.
